Don’t let your husband steal your charger: Talking mobile power with Carey ReillyTopic:
Carey Reilly says she married into the only Italian family that isn’t into food.
“These people order pasta at Denny’s and thinks it tastes good,” Reilly tells audiences.
Reilly is a stand-up comic, television personality, and journalist whose riffs on food, gossip, celebrity, and being a mom to showcase her big personality.
Did we mention she has a big personality?
Quick one-liners have kept her busy. In a typical day, it might take her 30 minutes to figure out her schedule. And yet, she manages to squeeze appearances on the Food Network, VH-1, the Joy Behar Show, Wendy Williams, or the Today Show into the rest of her day while raising two boys, 8 and 10.
So, how does the mobile phone fit into the life of this busy mom and television personality? We asked her some questions.
How many unread emails do you have right now?
This is going to sound nuts, but I have 33,124 unread emails! I guess I’m a digital hoarder. Most of the emails are trying to hawk a butterfly garden for my backyard. I also keep getting a spam email with the subject line, “Meet Russian Beauty.” Someday someone will take pity on me and help me delete them all one by one.
What’s the first app you check in the morning?
Right when I wake up I always check my texts and there’s usually a text from Robin, one of my best friends. She usually asks me how I slept and if I’m going to work out with her and drink my protein shakes. She’s a real health nut and a pizza-binge buzzkill.
What app do you check before you go to bed?
The last app I check is my email. I feel like I’m always hitting “refresh” to be sure I have the latest email.
What app do you use the most?
My most used app would probably have to be the app I use to see if I snored like a man the night before. I just had surgery to correct my sleep apnea and I’m still trying to gauge whether the surgery worked or not. It’s hysterical because if I do snore, my phone records it. I can play it back and my kids think it’s the funniest thing.
What’s your favorite emoji?
I still love the poop emoji. That just never gets old. I’m like a twelve year old boy. I’d love a poop emoji with a sounds. Please someone invent this. I would invent it but I’m too tired.
Name an app that you absolutely depend on.
I depend on Facebook quite a bit. Since I work from home or I’m on the road its sort of my “watercooler” spot for what’s happening in the world. When you work from your kitchen typing on a computer every day, you become desperate for any kind of human interaction. My two dogs Bertie and Bella are my co-workers.
You’re in the entertainment industry. What app do you use to stay entertained?
I use FiOS Mobile on my iPad every morning. I bought an iPad holder that has magnets on the back and it holds my iPad on the fridge like a television. I love Today Show, Wendy Williams and of course I am a HUGE Bravo fan. I also love my Kindle Fire Stick where I watch anything that’s on the Smithsonian Channel.
What’s the craziest place you ever lost power to your phone?
The craziest place I’ve ever lost power would have to be an intimate luncheon I was recently at, hosted by Good Housekeeping magazine with Kelly Clarkson. While eating and listening to Kelly talk about her new book, my phone died! I was like OF COURSE MY PHONE DIED!!! Luckily I had already snapped a selfie. My husband had borrowed my portable Ventev battery pack so I was stuck without backup. We are always fighting over that thing.
